American author and former professional wrestler April Jeanette Mendez. She is popularly recognized for her time in WWE under the ring name AJ Lee. April was born on 19th March 1987 in Union City, New Jersey.
In the year 2007, she started her professional wrestling career on the state’s independent circuit. In the year 2009, She approved with WWE and expended two years in its developmental branch, Florida Championship Wrestling, before her promotion to the main roster. In the year 2012, she came to fame through storylines with her mentally hazardous character, such as high-profile affairs and a three-month stint as the General Manager of Raw. In the following years, she received the Divas Championship a record-tying three times and held the title for an overall record of 406 days. April also gained the Slammy Award for Diva of the Year in 2012 and 2014, and readers of Pro Wrestling Illustrated voted her Woman of the Year from 2012 to 2014. She resigned from in-ring performing in 2015.
April has since concentrated on writing. Her 2017 biography, Crazy Is My Superpower, was a New York Times Best Seller. April regards herself as a tomboy and has an interest in comic books, anime, and video games.
On 13th June 2014, she wedded fellow wrestler Phil Brooks, better known as CM Punk. An advocate for animal welfare and mental health perception, April has served as an ambassador for organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness and American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
