Marvel Cinematic Universe Will Stay, But, Avengers 4 Is Genuinely An End: Kevin Feige

The Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was interviewed by Uproxx and he said that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will keep going, but, the Avengers: Infinity War and its 2019 sequel Avengers 4 are indeed going to be some kind of a climax.

The role played by Peter Dinklage in Avengers: Infinity War

“It’s been done before in films where there are a finite number of books, and they finish telling the story for the books, so they come to an ending,” Feige said. “Characters like Spider-Man or Batman or James Bond or Iron Man, who have been around for so long and are always refreshed in comic books or novels or movies, you don’t necessarily get that kind of an endpoint – and we wanted to do that, which is what these next two Avengers films are.”

What does he exactly mean by that? It might be time to say goodbye to the original lineup of Marvel Cinematic Universe. Heroes like Iron-Man, Thor, and Captain America have been a part of the Avengers right from the outset, so it is logical to wrap up their narratives. Add that with the expiry of their contracts, and for stars like Chris Evans, the Avengers 4 certainly seems to be the swansong movie.

The fact that the recent films such as Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming have been highly successful, it is expected that these newer heroes will take the leadership. Both these films have sequels in the pipeline, and then the debut of Captain Marvel is coming up too, which means that MCU is not going anywhere, just that it might have different faces featured in it.

Infinity War’s Mega Edge of the seat ending has comic book origins

“It doesn’t mean the MCU is coming to a close, by any means,”Feige said. “But it means the narrative that started when we began ten years ago will have a conclusion.”

The Avengers:  Infinity War is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and the film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston and Josh Brolin, as well as others.
