Thanos Will Not Be The Only Villain In Avengers 4

Avengers: Infinity War was surely not a light-hearted fun adventure Marvel movie but was filled with emotion, drama, suspense, humor, sci-fi moments and most of all hardcore action.

It shattered box office records worldwide and has become the fastest movie ever to reach Billion dollars in box office collections within 8 days. The film took on a somber tone which is rarely seen in the MCU ending in the most thrilling way possible. The cliffhanger had our jaws dropped to the floor.

Thanos was not a crazy villain but and he was evil and a genius whose objective was to bring balance to a universe. In his mind, the only way to he thought that he could resolve the problem was to wipe out half the galaxy so that the surviving half could live a peaceful, comfortable life. He finally accomplished his goal as disintegrated half the population with the snap of his fingers after he collected the Infinity Stones.

In the post-credits scene, the Finger Snap affected Nick Fury and Maria Hill in New York as they watched people around them turn into ash.

As the scene progressed, we saw Fury send a distress signal through a beeper that might be his panic button of sorts, before he also turned into ash.

The beeper then falls from his hand, and the camera zooms in and displays the signal of Captain Marvel.

The big question was why Fury had contacted Captain Marvel now and not before when the Earth was attacked by Loki and Ultron. This can be answered in the Captain Marvel movie and we hope it is not a plot hole.

So far we know that Captain Marvel will be heavily involved in the Kree-Skrull wars that took place in the 90s. So Captain Marvel might have ended the war and given Fury that beeper asking him to contact her if the Skrulls invade Earth again.

Decades later, Fury must have thought that it is the Skrulls invading as he is unaware of what Thanos has done, hence he sends the distress signal before he turned into ash. This could mean that the Skrulls might be the new villains in Avengers 4 as well.

In the comics, after the infamous Kree-Skrull wars, the events of Infinity Gauntlet took place. Following that the Secret Invasion began and the Skrulls had invaded Earth thinking that the Kree and Earth were involved in the loss of their planet.

Thanos’ finger snap would have wiped out half of the population as well, leading them to believe that Earth and Kree had been involved.

This is where Hawkeye’s story arc as Ronin comes in. It is suggested that Clint is on a secret mission to hunt down the Yakuza in Japan. And the Yakuza are the shape-shifting Skrulls hiding on Earth. The report had claimed that Marvel hired extras that were comfortable having face prosthetics in the movie, so they may actually be the Skrulls.

Another theory is that Thanos might be just a pawn in a bigger game. His idea of “Balance” to the universe is associated with the Celestials in comics. MCU introduced a powerful Celestial named Ego in GOTG Vol. 2 who also happened to be Peter Quill’s father, and he believed he was the last living Celestial, but he was wrong.

The Celestials are old, powerful beings who have limitless powers. They are powered by cosmic energy which allows them to manifest physical forms for themselves. They are not extinct and may have a plan for the entire cosmos after Thanos has wiped out half of the universe.

While all these may be rumors, the theory might turn out to be true. We will find out when Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019.
