There was never a doubt about the fact that Avengers: Infinity War was going to be a box office success, but, the enormous success has surprised many, including Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds used social media to congratulate the film for the mega opening weekend, and he also shared a letter from Tony Stark rejecting Deadpool. Avengers: Infinity War has broken the North American record for the best 3-day opening and has totally destroyed the global record with a mind-boggling $630 million, without any contribution from China.
Reynolds celebrated the huge success of Avengers: Infinity War by congratulating the Avengers on Instagram. He said, “From a guy who never knows when to quit, I’m glad you guys never did. Congrats Avengers,” alongside an image of some Tums, a dumbbell, and a Tony Stark letter. The letter is a rejection message from Tony Stark after Deadpool applied for the Avengers. It strongly rebukes the Merc with a mouth and tells him to go try with Professor X.
Ryan Reynolds’ character is a Marvel creation, but, not a part of the MCU, although the scenario may change in the times to come if the Disney/Fox deal is successfully completed. However, there is also the possibility of Deadpool not playing any cameos in Marvel Cinematic Universe, even after the deal. We have seen plenty of strange things happen in the past and Disney Bob Eiger had already suggested that they are not averse to an idea of an R-rated universe featuring the Merc with a Mouth. It would be fantastic to see Wade Wilson alongside Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor.
Apart from their Marvel origins, the upcoming Deadpool 2 also has a common actor with Infinity War. Josh Brolin who plays the Mad Titan Thanos also happens to be playing Cable in the upcoming Deadpool sequel. No wonder, Brolin is the ruler of this summer courtesy these two Marvel films. Thanos is the leading character in Avengers: Infinity War and he plays a major role in the film, whereas, Cable is the villain in Deadpool 2 who later joins the X-Force. In case 2 is not enough, the Josh Brolin also has Sicario 2 coming up later in the summer.
Avengers: Infinity War has done even better than expected at the box office during the weekend, and overtook Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become the highest grossing movie on North American debut ever, and it also beat the global performance of the Fate of the Furious.
The outcome of ten years of Marvel Cinematic Universe films has decimated records and is very much on track to stay on top until Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story release in theaters in May. If a film gets praised by Deadpool, it is obvious that it is a huge achievement and to think that he wasn’t even allowed to be a part of the Avengers.
