Del Toro’s Take On The “Tales From The Crypt” Approved By Netflix As A TV Series

Guillermo Del Toro will be the executive producer of a new show based on his creation named Guillermo Del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight for the streaming giant.

This joint-venture with Netflix happens to be Del Toro’s second project with them after their award-winning animated series Trollhunters. The latest series will bring to life select horror stories from Del Toro.

A press release by Netflix mentioned that some of the episodes will be written and directed by Del Toro, and the others by moviemakers handpicked by Del Toro. The other executive producers of the series will be J. Miles Dale (The Shape of Water) and Gary Ungar.

Guillermo Del Toro is a renowned horror lover who has created several scary projects in the past including Crimson Peak, The Devil’s Backbone, and Pan’s Labyrinth. He is also the producer of the cinematic adaptation of Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, which is a much-awaited adaptation of famous children’s horror books.

The new anthology will be the first such Netflix Original, though there is already the much loved techno-horror anthology series Black Mirror on the platform. Netflix had also last year chosen the anthology horror series Slasher from the Canadian channel Chiller which is out of operations now. The new series seems to be different from Slasher since it is an episodic anthology instead of a horror story running through a whole season.

There hasn’t been any announcement yet of a release date for Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight.
