In The Immortal Hulk, things are quite tense as Bruce Banner locked up Joe Fixit and Savage Hulk while pretending to be the Green Scar. The attempt to manipulate things was on, which aimed at the One-Below-All to take control.
Bruce had to take the most challenging decision ever as he let his most potent weapon get destroyed. Devil Hulk, who was unleashed to stop Samuel Sterns, was destroyed by Banner, and he gave the Leader everything he needed to finish the job on the Jade Giant.
Sterns was shocked to see the Devil Hulk out of his cage, and he probably feared it as it can’t be tamed. Devil was treating Bruce as his son and tried his best to protect him since he was a kid.
Sterns realized that it would be difficult for him as the Devil Hulk might seek revenge for hurting Bruce and the other Hulks, including Savage Hulk. But Bruce makes a mistake, which leads him to regret.
As Sterns took the form of Brian, Bruce knew that it was not really his father. But he hesitated, and his insecurities and undying love for Brian surfaced. It gradually manifested in Savage Hulk, who was holding the Devil Hulk back and allowed the Leader to take on his monstrous form and kill the behemoth. This incident is quite difficult for the Hulks. They have lost their ultimate protector, and at the same time, they don’t know which weapon to use for fighting.
