Jennifer Lynn Connelly is an American actress who started her career as a child model. She was asked to perform a ballet routine in her first appearance as an actress in Hollywood movies. Slowly and gradually she made a mark for herself in the industry featuring in the breakthrough role of her film career in ‘Requiem for a Dream’.
It was no looking back as she featured as the lead actress in movies like ‘A Beautiful Mind’, ‘Blood Diamond’, etc. She was honored with prestigious awards like Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA for the movie A Beautiful Mind. She played the role of Alicia Nash in the critically well-received movie. Born in Cairo, New York, to Ilene and Gerard Connelly she was raised in Brooklyn Heights where she attended Saint Ann’s school.
Her modeling career started with the Ford Modeling Agency featuring on the cover of several magazines and Japanese pop songs. Her debut Hollywood movie was Once Upon a Time in America in 1984. She played a teenager in the fantasy film, ‘Labyrinth’ for which she was highly criticized. She acted in ‘The Hot Spot’ after dropping out from Stanford Institute. She worked opposite Frank Whaley in romantic comedy ‘Career Opportunities’. In the movie ‘Mulholland Falls’, she played the most controversial intimate scene with her co-star John Malkovich as his mistress.
She played the emotionally heightened role of a woman who gets addicted and becomes a prostitute in the movie Requiem for a Dream. She married actor Paul Bettany in 2003and has two children with him.
