Born as Wang Ji Hyun on 30 October 1981, she is a South Korean actress who is also name by her English name Gianna Jun. She was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. Her mother and her mother’s friends used to motivate her to become a model or an actress since she was tall and slim. However, she wanted to become a flight attendant during her childhood, but, later she gave up this dream after a terrible flight experience. Jun first garnered fame as a commercial model and a television actress. She debuted as a film actress in White Valentine in 1999. Her breakout film was comedy My Sassy Girl, a story of an innocent college student and his partly crazy girlfriend. The film was the highest grossing Korean comedy in the history in Korea and was at the number 1 spot for two weeks in Hong Kong. It made Jun a pan-Asia star and one of the biggest Hallyu stars in the Chinese language market. My Sassy Girl’s tremendous success consolidated Jun’s domestic popularity and she became known as the “Nation’s First Love.” She won the Best Actress Award at the 2002 Grand Bell Awards. Late in the year 2006, announcement was made about Jun making her highly anticipated move to Hollywood as the lead character in Blood: The Last Vampire. Later on, as a member of the star-studded cast of The Thieves, Jun was a show stealer in Choi Dong-Hoon’s 2012 heist movie about Korean and Chinese thieves who teamed up to steal a diamond worth US$30 million, which was locked in a special room at a Macau casino. The film became the second best-selling Korean film in the history.

In November 2016, Jun returned to television in a SBS fantasy romance drama Legend of the Blue Sea with Lee Min-ho. Jun was ranked 9^th on Gallup Korea’s list of the 10 best actors of 2016 and was the only woman to feature in the list.
