Kim Kardashian faced a lot of backlashes recently for posting her 40th birthday party whereabouts on social media. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was accused of being tone-deaf and insensitive for posting about her lavish birthday party on Twitter and Instagram.
Kim wrote a very detailed post regarding this: “After two weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.
“We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach, and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is. #thisis40”
Twitter was ablaze with criticisms of Kim’s actions, calling her out for showcasing her privileges and financial power.
On Twitter, a user said, “I feel like, maybe, you should not have shared this with us and just kept it to yourself.”
While another replied, “People are dying and the rest of us are suffering as we watch the body count rise quarantined in our homes. This is tone-deaf and insensitive.”
However, some Twitter users took it in stride and went on making a caricature of her post as they copied her caption and used it with their images.
Some famous faces also came forward to state their opinions regarding the issue. Billy on the Street host Billy Eichner tweeted, “Vote them out,” referring to Kim’s husband, Kanye’s failed attempt to win the upcoming United States presidential election.
