Lethal Weapon season 3 is now in deep trouble as the co-lead, Clayne Crawford, has been fired. This studio is scrambling to recast Martin Riggs which was played by Mel Gibson in the Lethal Weapon films.

The firing had come about as a result of misconduct and behavior issues from actor, Clayne Crawford. He was said to be creating a pretty hostile environment and has been accused of emotional abuse. Crawford had acknowledged being reprimanded by this studio and had detailed incidents which happened during the production of Lethal Weapon season 2.

“The first reprimand was because I reacted with anger over working conditions that did not feel safe or conducive to good work under the leadership of a guest director and assistant director, who, in turn, were angry at my response. I met with human resources, I apologized for my part of the conflict, and I completed studio appointed therapy in October. I even shared a sizeable portion of my paycheck with one of the parties involved, per the instruction of the studio. The second reprimand happened just a few weeks ago during the episode I was directing. An actor on set felt unsafe because a piece of shrapnel from an effect hit him. It was an unfortunate event that happened in spite of all precautions and procedures being followed. I take responsibility for the incident, because I was in charge of the set.”

Co-star, Damon Wayans was the one who took this shrapnel. Crawford’s behaviour had worsened, and Wayans would not talk to his co-star anymore. While many reports have stated that Fox and Warner Bros. have moved on from Crawford, this may be news for him. The actor had taken to Instagram and declared that he has not been informed about his firing:

“When everyone seems to know your future but you. No word from Fox or Warner Bros. I hope I’m not fired!! Dang.”

His post included an image of him shrugging, but he had a smile on his face. The actor had also joked about this and said,

“Wait, wait, wait……you can’t fire me on my day off!” Despite the fact that he is very likely going to be unemployed in the near future, if he isn’t already, he seems to have a sense of humor about the whole thing.

Many fans of Clayne Crawford had come to his defense and said that they will not support Lethal Weapon season 3 if he is fired.

Fox is now set to present a fall lineup of programming by May 14, so if they are going to cast a new person for the role, they will have to do so fast.
