Maggie Rogers graced the red carpet during the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday in a sparkling black tulle Chanel dress. The 25-year-old proved she had more than just metaphorical star power on her side as she made her way along the evening’s lengthy red carpet.
Maggie Rogers is an American singer-songwriter and record producer who was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2020. At the New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, her song “Alaska” was played to Pharrell Williams during a master class which proved to be highly successful for her. After the Pharrell video went viral several record labels tried calling sign up with her.
She signed a deal with Capitol Records having more control over her sound and image than many artists at a similar place. In 2017, she released EP, Now That the Light Is Fading. In January 2019 her major-label debut album, Heard It In a Past Life was launched which debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200. On February 15, 2017, she made her television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon which was followed by Saturday Night Live debut and Today Show debut. She considers Carrie Brownstein, Patti Smith, Kim Gordon, and Björk as her musical inspirations and singers Brandi Carlile and Sharon Van Etten as her mentors and musical big Sisters.
At the famous Madison Square Garden, she performed with Dead & Company, performing “Friend of the Devil” and “The Weight”. She is a supporter of organizations like the ACLU and Planned Parenthood giving them regular donations. She completed her graduation from New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music with a degree in music engineering.
