Paige VanZant is returning to training after suffering from fractured arm third time. VanZant wasted no time before returning to practice despite suffering another setback which According to the doctor is a minor fracture and will take 6-8 weeks to heal. Now she has a permanent plate and screws in her hand after the third break which is creating more difficulty in making the comeback. She is hopeful to be back sometime around May and posted a video of herself punching and making herself mentally strong.
Paige VanZant is 25, born March 26, 1994, in Dundee, Oregon. During her childhood, she learned ballet, jazz, and hip hop dancing for over 13 years. She went to TMCC High School and graduated from there. Following her father’s suggestion, she started boxing at the age of 15 and joined the gym run by UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock. She won her professional MMA debut at UWF against Jordan Nicole Gaza by split decision.
At the Premier Fight Series 2, she won her second pro fight against Amber Stautzenberger. She lost her first pro fight to Torres at Invicta FC 4: Esparza vs. Hyatt on January 5, 2013. She won her debut UFC match in the third round by TKO at UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs. Saffiedine and earned a $50,000 bonus. She landed a sponsorship deal with Reebok and also modeled for Nike and Columbia Sportswear.
In a one-sided bout, she eventually lost to Rose Namajunas. She made a strong comeback at UFC on Fox: Maia vs. Condit winning the fight in the second round. She became a contestant on season 22 of Dancing with the Stars partnering with dancer Mark Ballas. On the Food Network TV series, ‘Chopped’ she appeared in the celebrity cooking competition alongside LaMarr Woodley, Mariel Zagunis, and Dorothy Hamill.
