With a new show on CBS, the sci-fi series has not been this pronounced before, and the popularity is set to grow.

The entertainment world now has its eyes fixed on Cinema Con, and the event has given us a few updates on a few Hollywood’s top projects. The companies like Sony Pictures have now made some huge announcements at this event, and Paramount Pictures then wrapped the panel.

ComicBook’s Brandon Davis was on site and had learned that Paramount has “several new Star Trek” movies will be coming down the line. No details have been given about the two projects, but the fans have heard of at least one such feature.

The headlines had been dominated by Star Trek when reports had connected Quentin Tarantino to this franchise. The director was said to be attached to an R-rated version of this series. The film has not really gone into pre-production, but a creative team had been built with Tarantino. Since this film was announced, all the fans heard a little about it, but Star Trek alums like Simon Pegg are not sure if this director will be overseeing the feature:

“I don’t think Quentin is going to direct it,” Pegg told the Happy Sad Confused Podcast. “Because he’s got in his California movie [Once Upon A Time In Hollywood] to do and then I think only doing one more film after that. And I doubt, I don’t think he could get around to directing a Star Trek in two-three years.”

There is no telling if Paramount Pictures plans to continue the Star Trek franchise which JJ Abrams had kicked off for this series. The new projects may branch off from this canon and start its own cinematic universe, or it may be a pre-existing franchise’s fourth film.
