Jason David Frank Wants a Power Rangers: Lord Drakon Netflix Show

In fact, that’s exactly what we all thought after looking at the trailer, which is aimed to promote the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book event titled Shattered Grid. It was really an experience seeing Frank as Lord Drakkon, and although, the trailer’s aim is to promote the comic books event, Frank also acknowledged that it is a compelling proof of concept for maybe a Netflix series.

“Everyone’s on board to make this awesome trailer slash possible pilot that could be its own show or something,” Frank was quoted as saying. “I just want to make it clear before everyone jumps on board. This is a promo for Shattered Grid, but I was hoping to get the attention of fans around the world including the Saban brand and say, “Hey, look, this could be an awesome Netflix series, this could be a highly talked about series around the world.”

It doesn’t mean that Frank is going to write off a Green Ranger or a White Ranger series for now, but, there is a huge fascination for Lord Drakkon, and that creates an opportunity for a large number of new and returning fans to have a look at the franchise.

“And it’s … because the reason for that is not … If I was doing a Green Rangers series, or a White Ranger series, great,” Frank said. “And those talks hopefully will be in the future. But the cool thing about Lord Drakkon is not everybody … 2 out of 10 people know him, so eight people are gonna search for it to find out what this is. If you read the comic, it’s like, “What is this? I’m blown away. It’s better than the movie. It’s this; it’s that.”

The ongoing live-action series targets the younger viewers, so it would be a sensible thing to try and launch a more adult-oriented series in some other format. That’s what the comics are supposed to do right now, but, there is no lack of fans if there is a Netflix series or a series on some other streaming platform which would enable the franchise to play with different narratives.
