Seems Like Billy Dee Williams Loves Solo: A Star Wars Story

Billy Dee Williams had attended the Solo: A Star Wars Story premiere in Hollywood and apparently loved the movie. Donald Glover played the young Lando Calrissian for the new Star Wars movie, a role which Williams first played in The Empire Strikes Back in 1980. Glover was recently asked about meeting Billy Dee Williams and revealed that the veteran actor gave him some wise advice. According to Donald Glover, Williams told him just to be “charming.”

Now, it seems that the torch has officially been passed on from Billy Dee Williams to Donald Glover. A Twitter user talked to Williams after the Solo world premiere and got his take on the movie. This is what he had to say

“Spoke with Billy Dee Williams after the #SoloAStarWarsStory premiere. He said he loved the film! The Lando torch has officially been passed.”

Filling into Billy Dee Williams’ shoes as the young Lando Calrissian was no easy task for Donald Glover, but it was nothing compared to the pressure that Solo co-star Alden Ehrenreich faced while playing the young Han Solo. Ehrenreich also met with Harrison Ford for advice on playing the iconic character. However, Ford famously dislikes talking about anything having to do with Star Wars and even told Ehrenreich that he hates Ewoks in a major way. In the end, Ford told the young actor to make the character his own.

However, Alden Ehrenreich shouldn’t wait to get a seal of approval from Ford like how Glover did from Billy De. Ford notoriously hates anything to do with Star Wars, so it’s fair to say that he has not seen The Last Jedi, Rogue One, or Solo: A Star Wars Story.

So far, Solo has been getting positive reception on social media. The Star Wars spin-off has received praise for Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover. With Billy Dee Williams supporting the movie, it should go a long way in helping fans who were on the fence.

Solo will release in cinemas on May 25th. The trailer of the movie is given below.
