It won’t be wrong to say that a lot of fans in theaters jumped up on their feet when Thor made the fantastic entrance on the Wakandan battlefield during the final battle of Avengers: Infinity War. The God of Thunder stayed away from Earth for most of the movie, trying to get himself a brand new weapon which could be used in the battle against Thanos, and aided by Eitri, the Dwarf King of planet Nidavellir, Thor got Stormbreaker, a new ax to hurl at Thanos.
The new weapon is capable of summoning the Bifrost which let Thor travel from one part of the universe to the other. However, its most impactful visual was when it ripped through the blast caused by the fully-powered Infinity Gauntlet to lodge into the Mad Titan’s chest. How did this ax tackle the sheer power of Thanos’ Gauntlet? The answer is provided now by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the writers of Avengers: Infinity War.
During an interview with Collider, the writers talked about Stormbreaker and clarified that the ax had cut through the power of the Gauntlet, and not the actual Gauntlet itself. “I imagine it has something to do with the fact that the same guy made both of them,” Markus said, referring to Eitri (Peter Dinklage)
“Eitri can make what he likes for whom he likes,” Mcfeely said, making a comparison to the inbuilt weakness of the Gauntlet to the weakness of Death Star from Star Wars. Therefore, it seems as if both the objects are almost equal as far as the power levels are concerned.
In fact, it is very logical to see two weapons created by the same guy are able to face each other. The Infinity Gauntlet might nestle the six Infinity Stones, but, it is a creation of Eitri, who went on to make the mightiest ax ever in the form of Stormbreaker.
